When you collect a Voelzke Fine Art print, you are collecting a single moment from the wild — captured in camera, printed to museum standards, and held to a strict, public count that closes forever.
The guarantee on this page is my personal commitment to the people who put my work on their walls. It covers what's in the package when it arrives, how the work is made, how editions are tracked, and what to do in the rare case a piece needs to be reauthenticated decades from now.
I write it plainly because the work deserves nothing less.
What ships with every print
Every limited edition arrives with a documented chain of authenticity. Nothing about the work is left implied.
Certificate of Authenticity
A signed certificate listing the image title, edition number (e.g., 7 of 25), size, paper or substrate, date produced, and the artist's hand signature. Your certificate is unique to the print you own.
Signature & Edition Number
Every print is signed and numbered by hand on the verso, or on the front for select prints, in archival ink. The number on the print matches the number on the certificate, exactly.
Registered Provenance
Your name and the edition number are recorded in the Voelzke Fine Art collector registry on the day the print ships. We hold that record for the life of the work, and update it on every documented resale.

A printed story of the image — where it was made, what I was waiting for, and why it matters. The story is the difference between a print and a piece of art.
Edition Integrity
The value of a limited edition rests on a single, unbreakable promise: once the edition closes, it never reopens. I treat that promise as the foundation of the studio.
The edition cap is total, across every size
Every limited edition is sized at release — typically 25 or 50 prints per image, with rare Ultra Exclusive editions capped at 5. The cap applies to the image as a whole, not to any single size. A collector who orders a 36x54 takes one number out of the total. The next collector who orders a 16x24 takes the next available number. When the final number is claimed, the edition is closed — regardless of which sizes were sold along the way. The cap is published on the product page before the first print is sold and is never adjusted upward, under any circumstance.
Artist proofs are produced in addition to the edition
A small, fixed number of Artist Proofs may be produced in addition to the main edition — typically no more than 10–15% of the edition cap, and never more than the publicly stated number. Artist Proofs are numbered separately (e.g., AP 2 of 5) and may be retained by the studio for personal use, exhibition, gifting, or limited release. The total run of an image is the edition cap plus the artist proof count, and not one print more. Both numbers are disclosed on the product page before the first print is sold.
The image is retired when the run closes
When every numbered print of the edition and every artist proof has been produced, the image is permanently retired. There are no second editions, no "anniversary" reprints, no open-edition releases of the same image, no derivative variations marketed as new work. The same image will not be issued again, on any substrate, in any future format. The total run is closed.
Open editions are clearly identified
Work labeled "Open Edition" is exactly that: an archival print available in unlimited quantity, at accessible price points, in standard sizes. Open editions are never marketed as collectibles, never numbered, and never confused with limited work. The distinction is permanent and clearly stated on every product page.
Section ThreeMaterials & Craft
Authenticity is not only a question of who made the work. It is a question of what the work is made of. Every print bearing my signature is produced to museum-grade standards by a single trusted lab, on substrates chosen to last generations.
Print partner
All limited and open editions are produced through a fine-art lab specializing in archival, gallery-quality output. Each print is inspected by the lab and again by the studio before it ships. No print leaves without two sets of eyes on it.
Substrates
- Hahnemühle Baryta — museum-grade fine art paper with deep blacks, archival sizing, and a baryta surface that holds detail across decades
- Lumachrome HD Acrylic Facemount — the image fused beneath optical-grade acrylic, with dimensional depth and UV resistance suited to displayed work
- Metal & Metallic substrates — selected for specific images where the medium serves the photograph; used only where appropriate
Archival standards
All prints are produced with archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years of lightfastness under typical display conditions, on acid-free substrates that meet museum-grade longevity standards. Framing, when commissioned through the studio, uses conservation-grade matting, acid-free backing, and UV-protective glazing.
What we never do
Voelzke Fine Art prints are never produced through third-party print-on-demand services. They are never licensed to consumer marketplaces or made available as posters, postcards, calendars, or any other derivative product under the VFA name without explicit written agreement and disclosure. The catalog you see on this site is the catalog. If a print is offered for sale outside of this site or my direct studio process, it is unauthorized.
Section FourThe Guarantee Itself
For the life of the work and for any subsequent owner registered through the studio, Voelzke Fine Art LLC guarantees the following:
- Authenticity of the print. The work is an authorized print of the original image, produced under the direct supervision of the artist, by the named lab, on the named substrate.
- Accuracy of the edition. The edition number stamped on the print and certificate is accurate and unique. The total edition size has not been and will not be expanded.
- Original signature. The signature is the artist's, applied by hand to that specific print.
- Production standards. The print was produced to the archival materials and standards stated above at the time of sale.
- Continuity of record. The studio will maintain the collector registry and respond to authentication inquiries for as long as Voelzke Fine Art LLC operates, and will document a successor process if and when the studio ever transitions.
If any of the above is ever found to be inaccurate on a print produced by this studio, the studio will, at its option, replace the print with an authentic edition or refund the original purchase price. This commitment runs with the work, not the original buyer.
Section FiveVerification, Transfer & Resale
Authenticity should not be hard to confirm — for you, for an appraiser, for an insurer, or for a future owner.
Free authentication, for life
Any owner of a Voelzke Fine Art print may submit the certificate number, edition number, and a clear photograph of the work for verification. The studio will confirm authenticity in writing, without charge, for as long as the studio operates.
Transferring ownership
When a print changes hands — gift, resale, or inheritance — the new owner may register the work with the studio to update the collector registry. Transferred provenance preserves the chain of title and is reflected in any future authentication.
Lost or damaged certificates
If a Certificate of Authenticity is lost or damaged, the registered owner may request a replacement. A reissued certificate is marked as such, references the original issue, and matches the same edition number; it does not create a new or duplicate edition entry.
Appraisal & insurance
The studio will provide registered owners with documentation suitable for fine-art appraisal and insurance purposes — including production specifications, edition size, original purchase date and price, and current studio retail value on the same edition where available.
Care & What This Guarantee Does Not Cover
This guarantee covers authenticity and production integrity. It is not a warranty against the conditions of ordinary display or against damage outside the studio's control.
This guarantee does not cover
- Damage resulting from improper handling, framing performed outside the studio, or installation
- Fading or substrate degradation caused by direct prolonged sunlight, exposure to moisture, smoke, or environmental contaminants
- Damage in transit on resale or transfer once the print has left the original buyer's possession through means not coordinated with the studio
- Cosmetic wear consistent with the age and display of the work over many years
Care recommendations
Display prints in conditioned interior spaces, away from direct sunlight, with stable temperature and humidity. Acrylic facemounts may be cleaned with a soft microfiber cloth and water; avoid solvents, ammonia, or abrasive materials. Paper-based prints should remain framed under UV-protective glazing.
